Protecting your capital is one of the primary tasks of any trader. The stop-loss tool is your indispensable assistant in calculating the risks and saving your money from losses. Strategies with its application can bring a solid profit in a short time.
But the stop-loss itself is more than just a tactic. It’s more like a whole method. Traders cannot do without it, but at the same time it can be used as an independent strategy.
Forex trading strategy
Stop Loss is an order placed by your broker to sell a security when it reaches a certain price. It is often associated with long-term deals, but it can perform its function in the short term. First of all, stop-loss strategies are sober and competent risk assessment. The more you can risk, the more you get.
Stop-loss. Before you use any strategy in your trading, it is important to understand what it is.
Stop-loss is primarily focused on the sale of securities when they reach a certain “peak” value on the exchange, taking into account the protection of a certain part of the capital from loss during trading. It is especially often used by those who cannot constantly control the trading process.
We will give some examples of strategies related to stop-loss, as well as the reasons why using it is actually a win-win forex strategy.
Stop-loss strategies. Strategies related to stop-loss are included in the forexver #6 forex strategy. Once you begin to correctly determine the market supply and demand, you can start to actively apply protection to your trades: it is the ability of the trader to evaluate the market according to the analytical data that is fundamental to stop-loss strategies.
Each strategy is a very individual one, so the choice should be based on your interests, experience and desired profit. Forex analytics will help you determine the approach.
Pin Bar. In the case of bull pinbars or any other type of pinbars, the stop-loss should be placed in the tail to avoid major losses in the event of a trend collapse. However, when the price crosses the stop-loss mark, it is no longer possible to set up a Pin Bar, and this is a natural signal from the market that your setting was simply not strong enough.
Internal bar trading strategy. When trading in an internal bar, you can choose between two options for placing a limit: either behind one of the bar-mother levels or the level of the internal bar itself.
Where safer is the location of the order behind the parent bar? This approach is especially effective if your main goal is to protect capital along with profit.
It is important to understand that the internal and external pinbar in the case of stop-loss strategies work in a similar way: as soon as the price crosses the mark set as “stop”, the bar settings will be reset.
Change currency pairs require a more cautious approach and an impressive corridor between entry and stop, so that the strategy of the parent bar will be particularly beneficial in cases with them.
Forex Stop Loss strategy “Hands Off”. This strategy is ideal for emotional traders who find it difficult to follow the right tactics under the threat of disrupting the whole deal. As you have already understood, the main goal of the strategy is to set up a stop-loss, make the necessary settings and no longer touch the deal before its completion.
The essence of Hands Off is that you do not change the settings during trading, which reduces the chances of early stops, avoids emotional reactions and keeps the stop-loss at an acceptable distance.
The most frequent strategy is a win-win stop-loss. Undoubtedly, many traders invest the maximum in their security, but without losses there is no good profit in trading.
It doesn’t bode well for your profit, but the strategy isn’t so bad for beginners: no one knows when you’re entering the market, and the stop-loss will be a guarantee of capital protection while you’re making money. This strategy is often referred to as the “Stop Loss 50%” strategy, but it is not necessarily half of what you decide to protect.
